If you don’t need gluten-free meal option, you can substitute regular soy sauce and hoisin sauce in this recipe. Add the chicken and sear it until it is well browned on all. Cook on Low heat for 3 to 4 hours or until chicken is cooked throughout. Pour on top of chicken in the slow cooker. Pour in the sauce, bring to a simmer, and cook until thickened. Add the garlic, green onions, and chickpeas and cook until crisp-tender. Heat the oil in a large, nonstick pan over medium-high heat. In a small mixing bowl whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, ginger and crushed red pepper. Saute the broccoli and red peppers in a wok over medium-high heat for two minutes. (Check the label on your tamari if you’re avoiding gluten altogether.)
